Six trimesters
(two years) of the same foreign language are required for
graduation. The Foreign Language Department, following the
recommendation of the University of California, strongly
encourages students to pursue the third and fourth year
courses offered in the same language. Satisfactory completion
(with a grade of C, or better) of the fourth year of a single
foreign language establishes equivalency for the foreign
language graduation proficiency requirement at California
State Universities. A second language may be begun by qualified
students and particularly by those who may wish to pursue
work in the field of foreign languages or international
studies at the college level. Each course is studied over
three terms.
