The Science Department at Loretto High School strives to promote science, math and technological literacy, critical thinking, and the habits of mind that can lead to productive lives in an increasingly complex world.

Instructors
Mr. Cordes
received his B.A. from California State University,
Sacramento in Biology with a minor in Geology in 1974.
He is currently working on his M.S. in Geosciences.
Mr. Cordes is a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He has
traveled many different places, from canoeing and hiking
across the U.S. and hiked with pack-burro's from Sacramento
to Calgary Canada.
Mrs. MacEgan
has been a certified teacher since 1986.
She received her B.A. from California State University,
Stanislaus, and her CA Multiple Subject Clear Credential
from California State University Sacramento. This
is her ninth year teaching science at Loretto. Before
coming to Loretto, Mrs. MacEgan taught every grade, from
first to college. Mrs. MacEgan has also taught workshops
for the California Science Teachers Association. Mrs.
MacEgan teaches RCIA at her church. For fun, she loves
to garden, and participates in the Life Teen Music Ministry,
playing keyboard and singing in the band at Mass.
Mrs. MacDonald
has taught for eighteen years. The last sixteen
years she has taught at Loretto. She has a B.S. in
Chemistry from University of California, Riverside and her
teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento.
Mrs. MacDonald worked as a chemist in an environmental lab
and in a crime lab before becoming a teacher. Mrs.
MacDonald loves to read, play volleyball, karate and spend
time with her family.
Mrs. Keller
has taught for nine years, the last six years at
Loretto. She earned her B.S. (Biological Sciences/Pre-Med)
from the University of California, Davis. Mrs. Keller
also earned a Master in Education from National University.
She also earned her California Clear Subject Teaching Credentials
while at National University. Before teaching, Mrs.
Keller was a research biochemist for fifteen years.
While working in the lab, and getting hands-on experience
she found it invaluable when it came time to understanding
what students need to know, and how to teach them.
In her spare time Mrs. Keller enjoys Scuba Diving and hiking
in the Sierra's.
