PSAT/NMSQT
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is administered to all Loretto Frosh, Sophomores and Juniors in October. The scores are presented to each student in December, along with a booklet explaining what the scores mean and how they fit in terms of nationwide performance. PSAT/NMSQT scores range from 20 to 80 in each of the three scored sections.

The PSAT/NMSQT includes five testing sections, resulting in the three scored sections: two 25-minute critical reading sections; two 25-minute math sections; one 30-minute writing skills section.  The Writing Skills section has multiple-choice questions about   writing that measure a student's ability to express ideas effectively in standard-written English, to recognize faults in usage and structure, and to use language with sensitivity to meaning.

Students take the PSAT/NMSQT to:
Help assess skills necessary for college-level work
The PSAT/NMSQT Score Report Plus gives students personalized feedback on their skills. Students can also review their answers since they get the correct answers and their responses to each test question, as well as their actual test booklet.
