Students Reaching Out is a group of trained presenters who join with students from the other Catholic high schools to bring a substance-free living program to the local Catholic elementary school students. The organization is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who maintain a 2.5 GPA and complete the application process.

Special Traditions and Activities - Traditions are wonderful to form, as well as to remember and mention when appropriate.

Art Festival - Each student is endowed with creative potential and the Art Festival provides an opportunity for the Loretto community to see what artistic students can do. All students of the visual arts are valued and represented in the art show by one of several pieces produced in class. The Visual & Performing Arts Department plans and sponsors the Art Festival.

Father-Daughter Dinner Dance is held in January. The student may invite her father, step-father, an uncle or grandfather as her escort for the evening. When the occasion has a theme, a costume relating to the theme may be worn, otherwise dressy dress is the appropriate attire.

Frosh/Soph Dance is held each spring on campus. It is for frosh and sophomores and invited guests.

Frosh Unity Luncheon - Each term the frosh class has a unity luncheon to allow students to get to know each other outside of their academic classes and to build unity as a class. Dates are listed on the calendar.

Graduation Events begin with the Junior Senior Luncheon hosted by the junior class. This event gives juniors and seniors a chance to say good bye after three years together.

The seniors present their class gift to the school at the Senior Final Assembly. Each of the other classes say good-bye to the seniors in their own way at the assembly.

The Baccalaureate Liturgy brings the seniors and their parents together to pray and celebrate with the Loretto Faculty, Administration, and Staff. The Mary Ward Rose, Service Award and other honors are presented at this time. They are also welcomed into the Alumnae Association.

Loretto's Commencement Exercises are held each May. The graduates wear long white dresses and carry a bouquet of red roses, maintaining a long standing tradition in all IBVM schools. Each graduate presents one of her roses to her parents as a sign of love and appreciation.

Graduation dresses must be long (top of shoes), stark white (no ivory, natural, cream, etc.), and suitable for church wear. The dresses are worn with nylons and white dressy shoes or white dressy sandals. Long white gloves are worn with a sleeveless dress, and short white gloves are worn with a dress with sleeves.

Homecoming Week encourages class unity and good spirited competition between classes. Student Council and Spirit and Sport Club coordinate the events of this fall celebration, which culminates with a dance.

Junior/Senior Prom, held off campus, is a formal dinner dance, with male escorts required.

Loretto Fashion Show offers two events for families, a Saturday luncheon and a Saturday night dinner . Seniors and their mothers are invited to participate as models in the fashion show at each event that previews current fashions and ushers in graduation year.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated biannually at Loretto High School.

Mary Ward Day is a biannual celebration of the courageous spirit and vision of the founder of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary Ward (January 23, 1585 January 30, 1645). The IBVM sisters own and operate Loretto, Sacramento, as well as other Loretto schools around the world.

National Honor Society Induction is held in the fall to honor outstanding leadership, character, service and academic achievement.
