As the Director of Campus Ministry for Loretto High School I would like to welcome you to a school which provides you the opportunity to share and experience a living faith. You are challenged to respond to God's special invitation to each one of us as you discover, grow, and embrace your individual giftedness. I believe that God created each of us for a special purpose and that our ultimate calling is in the words of Micah 6:8 to ""Act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God." My deepest hope is that you will treasure this gift of faith and live as witnesses to the Gospel message by bringing light to the world around. Know that the campus ministry door is always open for you. I look forward to the many prayer, worship, and retreat experiences that we will share together during your time at Loretto. May God's blessings be upon you always.

Liturgies

"Where two or three are gathered in my name..."

                -Matthew 18:20

The Loretto High School community gathers throughout the year at liturgies and prayer services in honor of Catholic Feast Days, Holy Days, and other special occasions. Our school community comes together to celebrate, reflect, and pray at these student-planned services. In addition to celebrations of Catholic Mass, our school community takes part in several student-planned prayer services for special occasions.. Liturgies and prayer services take place within the school day and all students are required to attend. Parents and families members are always welcome to join our school community for liturgies and prayer services. All liturgies take place in the Kassis Center unless otherwise noted.

SALT (Spiritually Alive Liturgy Team) creatively plans and coordinates our school's liturgies and prayer services to make them engaging and youth-oriented. SALT, in partnership with Campus Ministry, also helps to promote the spirituality of the school by raising awareness of Lent, Advent, and other special religious seasons and holidays. All students are welcome to participate actively in liturgies or prayer services through a variety of liturgical ministries, regardless of religious affiliation. Training for various Liturgical Ministries is provided through SALT and Catholic Jr./Sr. students are invited to be trained as Eucharistic Ministers.

•  Frosh Welcome & Overnight - Incoming students are given the opportunity to become better acquainted with members of their class and the school itself. This special event begins with a frosh family liturgy on Oak Tree Lawn. After saying farewell to their families, new frosh participate in an overnight retreat experience held on campus.

•  Sophomore Retreat - Held in the spring of sophomore year and in close proximity to the Sophomore Ring Ceremony, students are afforded the opportunity to further build class community and focus on friendship with Christ and one another.

•  February 14,2008

•  Junior Retreat - Juniors are invited to participate in the optional Overnight Retreat. This retreat is offered 3 times a year to provide interested juniors the ability to participate. •  Senior Retreat - Two different retreat options are available currently for seniors. Both retreats share the theme "Word of God Speak". The first option is the Senior Silent Retreat, a two and a half day retreat, which is based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. This retreat is highly contemplative and supportive of individual faith development. The second option is the Senior Overnight Retreat that includes many of the same components as the silent model, however on this retreat students share and process the experience in small group and are allowed the free use of their voices. Both retreats invite seniors to reflect upon where they are in their personal life and faith journey. Senior students are invited to carefully select the model that is best suited to their personal and ,spiritual needs.

•  2 nd Retreat April 9-11, 2008

Mission Statement

Campus Ministry is a significant component in the spiritual development of all members of the Loretto Community.  Inspired by the charisma and spirituality of Mary Ward, students and faculty are invited to deepen their understanding of themselves as people of prayer, hope and vision.  The Campus MInistry program ministers to the entire school community.  The Campus Ministry program flows from and is rooted in our Catholic tradition, with acknowledgment and respect for the religious formation and tradition of all members within the community.  The building of a strong community of faith is essential to the mission of our school.
